Free llms.txt generator
llms.txt is a plain Markdown file at the root of your site that gives AI assistants a short, curated map of what the site is and which pages matter. Fill in the fields and copy or download the file.
Free. No sign-up. Runs in your browser: what you type is not sent to us.
What goes in the file
The proposal asks for one H1 with the site name, a short summary in a blockquote, optional detail paragraphs, and then sections of links, each with a one-line description. Keep it factual: who you are, what you sell, where you operate and which pages answer the questions customers ask most.
Choose pages deliberately
List the pages you would want a stranger to read first: services, pricing policy, about, contact, and your strongest guides. Put lower-priority pages under the Optional section. Ten to thirty well-described links is more useful than a dump of every URL.
Be honest about what it does
llms.txt is a proposal, not a standard that every AI product reads. As of writing, the major AI search products do not document that they use it, and Google says no special files are needed to appear in its AI features. It costs almost nothing to publish, so it is reasonable housekeeping, but it is not a ranking lever. Clear page content, accurate facts and a crawlable site matter more.
Publish and keep it current
Save the file as llms.txt, upload it to the root so it opens at yourdomain.com/llms.txt, and update it when your services or key pages change. Facts in the file should match the facts on the site exactly.
Questions people ask
Is llms.txt the same as robots.txt?
No. robots.txt tells crawlers what they may fetch. llms.txt is a human-readable summary meant to help a language model understand the site. One does not replace the other.
Will llms.txt make an AI assistant recommend my business?
Nothing here guarantees that. It is a small signal at best. Accurate, well-structured pages and consistent facts about your business across the web do the real work.
Does this tool store what I type?
No. The file is built in your browser and nothing is sent to us.
Want this done for you?
Tools show you the gaps. If you would rather have someone fix them, tell us what you need and we reply with questions or a written quotation. The closest service is AI search and GEO visibility.
