Shopify migration services that protect your search traffic

Shopify migration services move your products, customers, order history and web addresses from your current platform onto Shopify, then rebuild whatever was custom code. We work from Magento, WooCommerce, Wix, BigCommerce and WordPress stores. The part that decides whether you keep your search visibility is the redirect map, so we crawl the old site first and give every URL that earns traffic a destination before anything goes live. Imports are tested on a development store, launch is staged, and Search Console is watched afterwards. We scope the work on a free call and quote in writing, because the price depends on your data and your plugins, not on a fixed package.

What's Included

Everything you need, nothing you don't.

01

A pre-migration audit: a crawl of the live site, Search Console data and a list of every plugin or extension, so you see what must be rebuilt, replaced or dropped before a quote is written.

02

Product, variant, customer and order imports through CSV files, Shopify migration apps or the Admin API, run first as a trial on a development store and checked line by line.

03

A redirect map in which each old URL points straight to its closest new page, uploaded into Shopify's URL redirects and tested, with no chains and no blanket redirects to the home page.

04

Theme build or redesign on Shopify, with metafields for the extra product data your old store held, plus tax, shipping, payment and email settings configured and tested.

05

A replacement plan for each old plugin: a Shopify feature, an app, a small custom build, or a deliberate removal, written down so nothing disappears unnoticed.

06

A cutover plan with a short order freeze, a final delta import, DNS change, sitemap resubmission and test orders covering checkout, taxes and confirmation emails.

07

Search Console and analytics set up on the new store, then a review of coverage errors, crawl problems and traffic by landing page in the weeks after launch.

08

Handover documents covering the import files, redirect list and app inventory, so a later developer or a future platform move starts from facts.

How We Work

Our Process

We begin with a free call and a crawl of your current site. From that comes an audit listing data volumes, plugins to replace and the URLs that matter, and a written quote follows. The store is built and test-imported on a development store while you review it. A redirect map is prepared in parallel. On launch day the old store is frozen briefly, a final import brings across new orders and customers, and DNS and redirects go live together. After launch we watch Search Console and fix gaps. Scope, timeline and payment milestones are agreed in writing before work starts.

Under the Hood

Technologies We Work With

Imports use Shopify's own CSV templates, migration apps from the Shopify App Store and Admin API scripts where the data is awkward. Redirects are built from a site crawl and loaded through Shopify's URL redirect import. Themes are built in Liquid on Online Store 2.0, with metafields for custom data. Tracking uses Search Console and GA4. Where a store needs stock or order data synced to an ERP or warehouse system, we connect it with n8n or direct API work.

How a project runs

  1. Send a brief

Usama reads it personally and replies with questions or a link to book a call.

  2. Written quotation

A written scope, timeline, payment milestones and what is out of scope. No obligation.

  3. Deposit and kick-off

A secured slot in the schedule. The deposit is non-refundable once work has begun (refund policy).

  4. Build in milestones

Progress you can see on a staging site, with payments following the milestones in your quotation.

  5. Test and launch

Final checks and go-live. For automations: tested on your real data in staging first, and documented.

  6. After launch

Optional monthly maintenance, cancel any time (refund policy). You own the custom code and designs once the project is paid in full (Terms).

What does a Shopify migration actually move?

A migration moves your catalogue, your customers and your history, and rebuilds everything that was code on the old platform. The first group can mostly be exported and imported. The second group cannot, which is where most of the real work sits. Shopify's own migration guidance gives an order to follow: products first, then customers, then historical orders, so that each later record can attach to the earlier ones.

Will moving to Shopify hurt my Google rankings?

It can, temporarily, and a careless move can hurt them for much longer. Google's guidance for a site move with URL changes says to expect some fluctuation, to map every old URL to its new one, to use permanent server-side redirects (301 or 308) and to keep them in place for at least a year. It also warns against sending many old pages to a single unrelated destination such as the home page, which can be treated as a soft 404.

Two Shopify details shape the plan. Shopify builds product, collection and page addresses on its own path patterns, so a lot of old URLs will change even if you keep the same domain. And a Shopify redirect only works from an address that returns a not-found response, so the old page cannot still be live under that address when the redirect is created. Redirects can be imported by CSV, and a standard store holds up to 100,000 of them. That figure is from Shopify's help centre as read in November 2026, so check the current limit.

None of this removes the risk. A redirect map protects the pages Google already knows. It cannot promise how long recrawling takes, and we do not quote retention percentages for anyone's store.

How do source platforms differ?

The table is general. Your own store will have exceptions, which the audit finds before anything is quoted.

Moving fromUsually moves with a tool or exportUsually rebuilt or replaced
MagentoCatalogue, customer list, order history through export files or the APICustom modules, layered navigation rules, multi-store configuration, B2B price lists
WooCommerceProducts, customers, orders, blog contentPlugin features such as bundles, memberships, subscriptions and custom checkout fields
WixProducts and customers by export; Shopify publishes a Wix guideDesign, booking and member features, and every Wix-hosted address
BigCommerceCatalogue, customers and orders by export or APITheme, scripts, custom fields and app-based features
WordPress with a shop plugin or a custom buildContent by export; products by CSVThe shop layer, plus any content you want to keep outside Shopify

How would we run the migration, step by step?

  1. Crawl and inventory. We crawl the live site and pull Search Console data so we know which URLs earn clicks, links and orders.
  2. Decide what is replaced. Every plugin or extension is listed with its job, then matched to a Shopify feature, an app or a small custom build, or dropped.
  3. Build the store on a development store. Theme work, import templates, metafields, tax, shipping and payment settings are configured and tested before any customer sees them.
  4. Trial import. A full test import runs first. We compare counts, spot-check variants and prices, and fix mapping errors while nothing is live.
  5. Redirect map. Each old URL gets one destination, sent straight to the final page without chains.
  6. Parallel check and freeze. The old store is frozen for a short window, a delta import catches new orders and customers, and both stores are compared.
  7. Cutover. DNS changes, redirects go live, the sitemap is resubmitted and test orders confirm checkout and emails.
  8. Watch. We read Search Console coverage and crawl errors in the weeks after launch and fix broken redirects as they appear.

What can go wrong?

  • Redirect gaps. Old URLs that nobody listed return not-found pages and drop out of search.
  • Variant mismatches. Products with unusual option structures import, but into the wrong combinations.
  • Lost features. A plugin did something nobody remembered, such as hiding prices for logged-out visitors.
  • Subscriptions. Active recurring billing usually cannot be copied across; the payment provider and subscription app decide what is possible, and this needs its own plan.
  • Reviews. Review apps differ in what they export, so check the format before you cancel the old one.
  • Email and tracking. Analytics tags, ad pixels and email-platform syncs need reconnecting.

What decides the price of a Shopify migration?

We quote in writing after the audit, and we publish no package prices. The drivers are the number of products and variants, how clean the source data is, how many plugins must be replaced, whether the theme is a template or a custom design, how many languages or markets are involved, how many order years you want moved, any subscriptions or wholesale rules, and how many URLs need individual redirect decisions. The cost estimator gives a rough scope, and a call fixes it.

When should you not migrate?

Do not migrate to fix a problem the platform did not cause. If traffic fell because of thin content, slow hosting or a bad template, a move will carry those faults across. Consider speed work or an SEO review first. Stay put if your store relies on deep custom logic that Shopify would need several apps to copy, or if a contract, an ERP link or a wholesale workflow has no clean Shopify equivalent yet. Leaving open-source software also means giving up server-level control, and some teams value that.

If you do move, our wider Shopify development work covers the theme and features, and Shopify automation covers the order, stock and email flows that replace old plugins. For platform trade-offs before you commit, read WordPress vs Shopify in 2026 and how to choose a Shopify agency.

Who is behind the work?

Website Prism Ltd is registered in England and Wales and delivered remotely. The founder has 8+ years and 800+ projects behind him, mostly through Fiverr, and Shopify's partner directory lists the founder (listing: Usama Afzal) as a Select Partner since August 2020. This page describes how we would run a migration. It does not claim any particular platform move as a completed case, so ask for relevant examples on the call and we will say plainly what we have and have not done.

What we can and cannot show you

Our published client reviews and case studies are for Shopify, WordPress, mobile and custom web projects, and you can check them on Fiverr and the Shopify Partner directory. We have no published client review or case study for Shopify Migration Services: Move to Shopify Safely yet, so we do not show one. Instead you get a written scope and quotation before work starts, a working staging version to test on your own data before go-live, and the right to stop between milestones (see the refund policy). If a simpler tool does the job, we will tell you.

How pricing works

We quote every project individually, because the price depends on scope: how many pages, systems or integrations are involved, how much is built from scratch, and how fast you need it. Small, well-defined jobs cost far less than custom builds. Tell us what you need, or use the quote request guide, and we will reply with a written quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Shopify migration services cost?

We quote after an audit and publish no package prices. The main drivers are product and variant counts, data quality, plugins to replace, theme design, languages, order history and subscriptions. The cost estimator gives a rough scope, and a free call turns it into a written quote.

How long does it take to migrate to Shopify?

It depends on the size of the store and how many features must be rebuilt, so we give a timeline only after the audit. A small catalogue with a template theme moves far faster than a large store with custom logic. Data imports are rarely the slow part; replacing plugins and testing are.

Will I lose my Google rankings when I migrate to Shopify?

Some fluctuation is normal, and Google says so in its site-move guidance. A full redirect map, permanent 301 redirects kept for at least a year, updated internal links and a sitemap resubmission reduce the risk. Nobody can guarantee rankings, and we do not promise specific traffic outcomes.

Can I move my old orders and customers to Shopify?

Usually yes. Shopify lists CSV import, migration apps and APIs for customers and historical orders. Do not assume customer passwords move across; plan for a message inviting people to sign in again. Order import has its own quirks, such as notification emails, which we switch off first.

Can you migrate from Magento, WooCommerce or Wix to Shopify?

We scope migrations from Magento, WooCommerce, Wix, BigCommerce and WordPress stores. Catalogue and customer data normally move by export or API. Themes, custom modules and plugin features are rebuilt. Ask us on the call for examples relevant to your platform and we will answer plainly.

What happens to my subscriptions and product reviews?

Active subscriptions usually cannot be copied between billing systems, so they need a separate plan with your payment provider and subscription app. Reviews depend on what your review app exports. We check both during the audit, before you cancel anything on the old store.

What you can rely on, and what we will not do

What you can rely on

  • A written quotation with scope, timeline and payment milestones before any work starts.
  • You own the custom code and designs once the project is paid in full.
  • If you cancel mid-project you pay for the work done; work not yet started is refunded.
  • We use your details to reply, quote and run your project. Analytics only after you accept cookies; no advertising pixels and no card data on this site.
  • We tell you honestly when a platform or feature is not the right fit.

What we will not do

  • Promise rankings, sales or AI-assistant citations. Nobody controls those.
  • Invent reviews, client names or case-study numbers.
  • Show your project in our portfolio if you ask us not to.
  • Quote a price before we understand your scope.
