Mark up only what is on the page
Structured data should describe content visitors can actually see. A FAQ schema needs a visible FAQ on the page, and a product schema needs the product, its price and its availability shown on the page. Markup that describes things the page does not show can lead to rich results being withheld.
Which type for which page
Use Organization on your home or about page, LocalBusiness when you serve customers at a place or in a defined area, FAQPage on a page with real questions and answers, Product on a product page and Article on a blog post. One page can carry more than one type.
Why there are no review or rating fields
We left them out on purpose. Review and rating markup must reflect genuine reviews shown on the page, and adding it by hand is the quickest way to mark up something that is not real. Add that only from a real review source.
Test before you ship
Paste the result into the page, then check it with Google Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator. Fix warnings that apply to your page, and re-test after any template change.

Does schema markup improve rankings?
Not directly. It helps search engines understand a page and can make a page eligible for some rich results. Eligibility is not guaranteed.
Where do I paste the script?
Anywhere in the HTML of the page, usually in the head. Most platforms have a custom-code or header-scripts field.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Everything is generated in your browser.
